The Department We strive for excellence in our rig department. The goal in the Fall is to inspect every boat we haul, and give our service managers clear suggestions for work, either needed or desirable. Then in the Spring, our goal is to rig every boat the way it was delivered to us, so the customer gets exactly what they expect. We do repairs and maintenance work, custom electronics, reefing and furling systems, and anything else for all rigging for recreational boats, generally under 60 feet. Rig Foreman Desired Qualifications: -Ocean sailing experience. -College degree with emphasis on understanding and applying technical writing is desirable but not mandatory. -Experience managing people. -Knowledge of electrical and computer systems used in modern rigging. -Understanding of ABYC. -Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations common in the industry, particularly OSHA, EPA, DOT, DPS. -Ability to produce, process, and organize written documents such as purchase orders and work orders, also tracking time and materials for jobs. -Ability to schedule work in cooperation with others, reliably and flexibly in a manner that accommodates other departments. Character matters. A strong sense of leadership is key. The Rig Foreman must lead a department, while following the lead of the yard manager, and while working in concert with other foremen. The Rig Foreman is in the center of a collaborative effort and needs to be dependable, resourceful, and creative. This position requires faithful adherence to a promise made, as well as a willingness to change plans as needed. This person needs big shoulders, from which troubles roll away easily and the focus remains on keeping high quality production moving forward. Presently we have a strong rig department. We are looking to build on those strengths. This is a full time, year-around position offering excellent compensation and benefits. Veterans encouraged to apply.
